Pregnant or start of Menopause?

I am 44 and stopped taking the depo provera shot(was due for shot in May) I have had regular periods since then. I am now 5 days late with nausea, sore and crampy feeling. I took a home pregnancy test which was negative. Could I still be PG or is this the start of menopause? I don't have anything to compare to as both my Mom and sister had to have hysterectomies in their 30's
