How can i get into a state college?

(I am not bragging, I am just telling you about my education and life) I am not trying to get into an Iv-league school, or a community school. I just want to go to a state university, but everyone is applying there now a days. So what can I do that will set me apart, I have diabetes, I volunteer at camps, do walks, I go to private high-school. I made 2nd honors (A's and B's). If I fail a cl (hopefully I wont) but if i do will I not get into a state college? My Sat's scores were ok but I am just a junior, and I did not work with my tutor yet. I am applying to several state schools. What else can I do or say that will make me stand out? I was on tv for helping kids with diabetes out and I am in a diabetes brochure but how can I bring that up in conversation? The one school I love has early action, should I mention it then?? I have a face-book, but in no pics. do you see an alcoholic beverage. Pls. tell me what you think I should do to stand out. Thanks in advance!
